Pink Floyd Releases 1973 Concert Album From Jersey City’s Roosevelt Stadium

Roosevelt Stadium in Jersey City opened in 1937 and was demolished in 1985. It hosted baseball, football, boxing, soccer and an annual drum and bugle corps competition. It also had some pretty damn good concerts, one of which was Pink Floyd on June 18, 1973. (The poster for the show advertises June 16 but it rained and was rescheduled).

The show is one of 18 such Pink Floyd events now available from their ‘73 Dark Side Of The Moon tour as a “copyright dump.” According to Variety, Euro artists must use or lose sound recordings within 50 years of creation or they go into the public domain, available to anyone to release with the artist not compensated.

MIKE GREENBLATT has been writing for Goldmine magazine and New Jersey's Aquarian Weekly for more than 35 years. His writing subjects fill the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
