Rachel Ana Dobken Is Ready For Stardom
Rachel Ana Dobken can do it all. She plays multiple instruments, writes rockin’ tunes, sings ‘em in ball-busting style, produces and entertains like nobody’s business. We covered the first two singles from her upcoming Acceptance album, due March 8, last year. “Give Us Another Chance” with Clint Maedgen of the New Orleans Preservation Hall Jazz Band on sax is the third single. She will celebrate Acceptance April 5 at The Wonder Bar in her hometown Asbury Park with “special surprise guests,” according to her publicist Steve LaBate at Myth Maker.
Acceptance also features members of Blind Melon. Paul Ritchie of The Parlor Mob and Erik Romero of The Front Bottoms co-produced with her on an album that goes from indie-rock, psychedelic classic rock and funky soul to Hard Americana. She lists Jeff Buckley, Pink Floyd and Thin Lizzy as influences, and journalists have already compared her to “My Morning Jacket meets Amy Winehouse.”
“I created Acceptance during one of the most trying times in my life,” Dobken says. “It started as a reflection of two major relationships that ended abruptly, and at the same time I was dealing with the isolation of the pandemic while watching my father slip away as he fought and lost his battle with cancer in October of 2021.”
