Recorded in Jersey: Loren Daniels – Ticket to Ride

Little did Paul McCartney and John Lennon realize when they wrote these songs that they’d make a near-perfect jazz album. Beatle-Jazz! Recorded at Teaneck Sound Studio, the melodies herein, like a tattoo on the brain, come out in delicious, mysterious and surprising ways. It’s like hearing these songs again for the first time.

Keyboardist/Producer/Arranger/Vocalist Loren Daniels has infused 10 Beatle songs with a funky zest and a swinging oomph. He dismantles long held harmonic truths to create a newness that satisfies on such songs as “Drive My Car,” “I’m Only Sleeping,” “For No One,” “Eight Days A Week,” “Come Together”, “Blackbird,” “You Can’t Do That” and three others, complete with bass, drums, flugelhorn and multi-tracked vocals. Best way to digest this time-honored material is to forget which songs he chose, then let the shock-of-recognition erupt as each tune makes itself known.
