Stephane Wrembel To Bring His New Orleans-Parisian Gumbo Back To The Apple

Stephane Wrembel

He may reside in Maplewood but guitarist Stephane Wrembel is all about New Orleans and Paris as he brings his exquisite nonet to New York City on October 3 at Le Poisson Rouge. Wrembel has singlehandedly kept the Gypsy Jazz tradition of Django Reinhardt alive but fused it with Louisiana love. “Django New Orleans” takes guitarist Reinhardt’s original 1934 spark that he ignited with violinist  Stephane Grappelli in their groundbreaking Quintette du Hot Club de France and combined it with the joyousness of Mardi Gras to create a fusion fit to swoon over. His latest album is Triptych, a pioneering adventure in three parts.
