Jesse Malin Tribute Album

Singer-Songwriter-Guitarist Jesse Malin will be the subject of a new 26-track double-album tribute September 11. Friends of Jesse Malin: I Would Do It For You, Volume #1 features Gogol Bordello, Dead Milkmen, Bebe Buell, Sami Yaffa, James Maddock, Valley Lodge and others. Eighty songs were recorded so expect more.

Malin, originally from Fort Lee, fronted D Generation in the 1990s before going solo in 2001 with The Fine Art Of Self-Destruction, following it up with eight more albums of strong songs that have been covered by Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, Green Day, Elvis Costello, Bleachers and Counting Crows. Rolling Stone called him “a gritty troubadour of the streets.”

In 2023, he suffered a spinal stroke which left him paralyzed from the waist down. Still, it didn’t stop him from performing two sold-out shows at the Beacon in New York City. He even made his off-Broadway debut earlier this year in Silver Manhattan which he co-wrote. His Almost Grown memoir was widely hailed.

"I've been a fan of Jesse Malin for decades now so I was thrilled when Valley Lodge was asked to be a part of the tribute album,” says Dave Hill. “The song originally appeared on D Generation’s 1996 album, No Lunch. "'Too Loose' has always been one of my favorites—a great and timeless rock song that we had a blast re-interpreting."
