Al Di Meola Sets Sights on New Project for the New Year
There are those who say that Jersey City maestro Al Di Meola is the greatest living guitarist in the world today and who are we to argue? He changed the course of jazz-rock fusion in the 1970s with Chick Corea in Return To Forever. Now comes news that Al will kick off the new year by returning to the stage with his acoustic band in a program called “The Guitarchitect.”
Al Di Meola To Perform at the Paco de Lucia Legacy Festival
After suffering a heart attack onstage in Bucharest Romania last year on September 27, legendary Jersey City guitarist Al Di Meola—who can be seen in the upcoming documentary ‘The Jersey Sound’ —will perform as part of the Paco de Lucia fest in New York City, taking place at various venues from February 20 to 24.
Al Di Meola Has Onstage Heart Attack
Legendary Jersey City guitarist Al Di Meola, 69, suffered a heart attack onstage last Wednesday in Bucharest, Romania. He was rushed to the Bagdasar-Arseni hospital’s emergency ward where he was treated for a “segment elevation myocardial infarction or STEMI,” according to Associated Press. He is now in stable condition and sent out his own missive thanking fans for the concern.
Al Di Meola Added to Upcoming “The Jersey Sound” Documentary
Al Di Meola, the legendary jazz-rock fusion guitarist with Return To Forever, will be part of Director Fulvio Cecere's "The Jersey Sound" documentary.
