The ‘Long Shadows’ of Fear Of Falling

Fear Of Falling

Indie-alt-rockers Fear Of Falling from Hunterdon County have followed up their Speak Low EP from last year with their sixth release, Long Shadows (Echo) on Quark Records. It’s their first full-length in 30 years. Four years in the making, on cherry red vinyl and other formats, the 11-tracks sprouted from the remains of songs they wrote while on tour in Europe with lyrics like a private journal. Highlights include “Hands On Me,” a tale of existential dread that’s strangely comforting; “Do Don’t,” described by the band as “a hypnotic techno tribal cyber-funk ear-worm;” and “When I Danced With Mary,” playful, off-kilter, nostalgic with tongue-in-cheek nods to The Monkees and Run-DMC. Singer Steve Lanni: “We’ve poured our hearts and souls into this. It’s a reverberation of our journey, growth and unwavering love for music.”
