TWO JERSEY ICONS; ONE MAMMOTH BOX

Frank Sinatra At The Sands 60th Anniversary

Capitol Records will release tomorrow a 5-CD boxed set in celebration of the 60th Anniversary of Frank Sinatra’s first live album:  Sinatra at the Sands with Count Basie & The Orchestra as arranged and conducted by Quincy Jones.  Five complete concerts—never before released in their entirety—from Sinatra’s sold-out 1966 Copa Room residency, deep within the Sands, have been remixed by Sinatra’s longtime trusted engineer Larry Walsh and remastered at Sterling Sound in Edgewater, N.J.

When originally released, the single-disc Sinatra At The Sands went gold and reached #9 on the “Billboard 200,” with the industry bible saying that the shows were “captured flawlessly.” That original review went on to say, “when we think of Frank Sinatra, we think of this Frank Sinatra—the whiskey-swilling, joke-cracking singer and entertainer that has become an American icon” to which Sinatra himself added, “working with Basie and Quincy…it was probably the most exciting engagement I have ever done in my life.”
