UNIQUE JERSEY CITY EVENT FRIDAY!

Stork Club

The Jersey City Poet Festival at The Stork Club this Friday, September 19 on Chapel Avenue from 7:00 to 11:00 combines “musical talent, community pillars, local businesses and poetic legacy,” according to Melida Rodas, the Poet Laureate of Jersey City. Billed as “an exclusive gathering for select voices in poetry, publishing and the arts,” it promises to be “an immersive celebration of lyrical brilliance” as the “creatives, visionaries and art lovers” who attend are invited to dress up as their favorite poet, “be it Emily Dickinson, Tupac Shakur, Bob Dylan or Maya Angelou.” Attendees are also invited to being a short piece, be it a poem, verse or lyric, authored by one’s self or any of the artists you embody, to be read aloud. “This shared experience will celebrate the timeless power of words and the diverse voices that continue to shape our cultural narrative.”

Among the musical guests will be Afro-Peruvian Jazz Percussionist Jasmine de Leon, classical cellist/rock bassist Meyling Wong, The Jersey City Cabaret, Project VT Cuba Band and singer-songwriter Giselle.
