LADY LONDON,
“LISA’S STORY”

East Orange rapper Lady London is skyrocketing to stardom. Here’s one reason why.

GANGSTAGRASS,
“YOU CAN NEVER GO HOME AGAIN”

The fusing of bluegrass and hiphop is an intriguing proposition. Gangstagrass singer/banjoist Danjo (Matawan’s Dan Whitener) has “star” written all over him.

CASSIUS KING,
“BAD MAN DOWN”

Metal from Clifton. Guitarist/Composer Dan Lorenzo has been at it for awhile now to the point where anything this righteously metal dude comes up with is worth digesting. Singer Jason McMaster, drummer Ron Lipnicki and bassist Jimmy Schulman flesh out Cassius King with chops-to-spare.

JOHN PIZZARELLI,
“JAMES”

He’s an internationally-acclaimed guitarist, Grammy-winning producer and world-class vocalist. From his 2021 Better Days Ahead album, filled with Pat Metheny compositions, here’s a piece—on his seven-string guitar—honoring James Taylor. He and his legendary guitarist father Bucky Pizzarelli [1926-2020] are from Paterson.

LITTLE SILVER CREEK BAND,
“WINE BOX BLUES”

Although they sound like they could be from the Bluegrass State of Kentucky, Little Silver Creek Band from Monmouth County are a new Americana act co-led by John Rafferty and Heidi Sheehan. She’s a hot-shot fiddler, music teacher and mom of three who is finally stepping into the spotlight.

DAVE VAN RONK,
“GARDEN STATE STOMP”

Mike Salkewicz and Devon McEnteer left their Morris County home to make a pilgrimage to visit all 80 Jersey locales that legendary Greenwich Village folksinger Dave Van Ronk [1936-2002] mentions in this 1985 novelty tune. They brought their video camera and the result has to be looked at as the ultimate Jersey video.

BOB SHAW,
“LONG DISTANCE CALL FROM EARTH TO HEAVEN”

Lebanon singer-songwriter Bob Shaw goes Gospel on his latest from Blairstown’s Bongo Boy Records.

BEN VAUGHN,
“DANCING IN MY MIND”

Before he went Hollywood, Ben Vaughn, born in Camden, was a struggling singer-songwriter. Yet he found his metier writing music for television (That ‘70s Show/3rd Rock From The Sun). Between his 12 albums, his collaborations with Ween and Alan Vega, and his radio show, his cult following is growing.
