IDK
“Narc 5”
This is the title track of IDK’s current metal-punk three-track EP on Scorpion Records. The Bergen County band has been getting some attention of late and its hardcore aesthetic pops. Star Wars freaks will dig the mentions of Keef Girgo and Kino Loy. The other two tracks—“Fireman Song 2025” and a cover of Black Sabbath’s 1975 “Symptom Of The Universe”—kick hard as well.
Wormy
“Cocaine Bear”
Wormy is the stage name of Monmouth County singer-songwriter-drummer Noah Rauchwerk. We covered his Shark River project last month. Directed by Granger Willson and edited by Hayley Zalkin, “Cocaine Bear” takes its title from the film of the same name and is Shark River’s third single.

P-Funk North
“All My Heroes Are Potheads”
Willie Nelson sang “All My Heroes Are Cowboys.” This Plainfield band looks elsewhere for inspiration. P-Funk North has been fusing reggae, funk and rock’n’roll through a party blender for 13 years. We’re totally looking forward to their upcoming album with Scotch Ralston of 311.
The Grip Weeds
“Spinning The Wheel”
The Grip Weeds—drummer Kurt Reil, lead guitarist Kristin Pinell Reil, keyboardist Rick Reil and bassist Dave DeSantis—are from Middlesex County and they all sing. This delightful gambling ditty appears on last year’s Soul Bender (Jem Records).
The Grip Weeds
“Soul Bender”
A double dose of the Grip Weeds: this is the title track from Soul Bender, chosen by Little Steven’s Underground Garage as “The Coolest Song In The World.”
