Rockin’ 1,000
“Born To Run”

The 2019 scene at the Commerzbank Arena in Frankfurt, Germany, was epic. One thousand onstage musicians performed songs by AC-DC, The Who, Bruce, Nirvana and Bruno Mars. The Italian entity known as Rockin’ 1,000 put on the show. They’ve been doing this for almost a decade with shows in Italy, Germany, France, Spain and Brazil. They’ll next perform in Portugal on September 14. Thanks to Jay Lustig and his www.njarts.net for bringing this to our attention.

Candy Hearts
“Anything”

Singer Mariel Loveland used to front Candy Hearts before her Best Ex band. We covered her a year ago with the headline “Hoboken Temptress Promises To Ruin Your Life.” Iodine Records has now released You Could Be Anyone: Rarities 2010-2016 by Candy Hearts. They will be reforming this October in Florida.

Fear Of Falling
“When I Danced With Mary”

The members of Fear Of Falling live in Hunterdon County. The tune is on Quark Records. It’s a sweetly innocent vehicle conjuring up simpler times. Good harmony. Good vibes. The clips of white people dancing are sorta funny but strangely endearing and nostalgic. It brought me back to my high school days. At 2:19, it’s over fast like a dream you almost remember.

Kanak
“Crash”

This Asbury Park band always delivers the goods. “Crash” is from Kanak’s On The Outside EP, released by Pop Clique/The Orchard, and produced by Ed Stasium of Ramones, Talking Heads and Smithereens fame. “Crash” is, as they used to say, a real barn-burner.
