Meet…Twisted Livin’

After opening for Blues People in July at the Lizzie Rose Music Room in Tuckerton, and performing two full sets at the Jersey Gumbo Cook-Off/Louisiana Music Festival at The Point in Atlantic County, the South Jersey (Somers Point) blues-rock trio known as Twisted Livin’ returned to Ocean County to headline Lizzie’s in August. It’s been a rapid ascent for the band lead guitarist Denny Shiffler started four years ago. He has a tone reminiscent of Stevie Ray Vaughan. It’s in how he bends the strings. Bassist Will Keiter comes from a jazz background so, besides keeping the bottom, his fills are complex. And Bob Irwin is always “in-the-pocket” like the great funk and classic rock drummers of yesteryear. The band is currently recording in Long Branch, will open for the legendary Mitch Ryder on September 12, before heading down south to Knoxville for a gig at the University of Tennessee in October.

Guitarist-Composer Shiffler told Danny Coleman on the website of the Jersey Shore Jazz and Blues Foundation that “we’ve done three songs so far but we’re gonna record an entire album. We’re not sure if [producer Jeff Levine] thinks we should release the three as an EP and then go back in and crunch out more stuff but I take his word on it as he’s been doing this a lot longer than us. He worked with Joe Cocker! So we’re kinda waiting on his word to see what he wants us to do.”
