Al Di Meola Sets Sights on New Project for the New Year

Al Di Meola tour

There are those who say that Jersey City maestro Al Di Meola is the greatest living guitarist in the world today and who are we to argue? He changed the course of jazz-rock fusion in the 1970s with Chick Corea in Return To Forever. His forays into Latin, Flamenco, Classical, Worldbeat, Post-Bop and Samba are well-documented. At the 72nd birthday party for the legendary Les Paul, he jammed with Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page. And his LSD story was one of the highlights of The Jersey Sound documentary.

Now comes news that Al will kick off the new year by returning to the stage with his acoustic band in a program called “The Guitarchitect.” Word has it that five decades of his music will be interspersed with multi-media visuals that, according to Al’s camp, “honors the past, embraces the present and looks toward the future.” Expect more dates.
