BAMBOOZLE CANCELLED

Whether it was the complaints from fans or the demand for refunds, New Jersey’s most celebrated music festival has pulled the plug just days before it was to begin. The event—due to commence May 5 for three days—is kaput. In a hastily prepared press release, Atlantic City business administrator Anthony Swan put out a press release that reads in part, “There was an ongoing concern we were not getting the required documents from festival organizers in a timely manner. We asked for this information months in advance to protect the city and its taxpayers. The event was fast approaching and these issues were still unresolved.”

Bamboozle’s John D’Esposito sent out an email, according to www.nj.com, that read in part, “after intensive discussions and meetings, we have made the heartbreaking decision to cancel Bamboozle Festival 2023.”

Since Bamboozle hasn’t happened in 10 years, this year’s event was highly anticipated. The Division of Consumer Affairs reported 22 complaints of misleading advertising, non-payment of refunds and a lineup much weaker than the one originally promised.

Bader Field was set to host Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, Trippie Redd, Steve Aoki and others, a far cry from when it was held at Giant Stadium in East Rutherford in 2012 with Bon Jovi, No Doubt, Foo Fighters, Fall Out Boy, Paramore, My Chemical Romance, Drake, Li’l Wayne, 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg to the tune of 20,000 fans per day. (Only 6,000 tickets were sold for 2023.)
