Brian K & The Parkway Bring ‘Roses & Kerosene’ To Their Party

Brian K & The Parkway

They’ve been on the road for what seems like forever but the follow-up to their Killing The Bear debut comes out next week. Three singles from the upcoming album are out now. Check out “Crows In Camouflage” below. The band is based in the Washington DC area but Brian K. Pagels is originally from Freehold. Their “coastal heartland rock” has been honed into a sharp edge over the last five years.

Guests include bassist Cat Popper (Jack White), keyboardist Rob Clores (Jesse Malin) and singer-songwriter Lilly Hiatt (daughter of John) who join guitarist Brian K, drummer-producer Stephen Russ and vocalist-composer-guitarist Mike Shade. Recorded in four Virginia days, K says, “fans will hear an immediacy in this music that differs from our first, more deliberately produced album…At its core, it’s an album about relationships and how they form, fall apart, and sometimes endure—each song approaches that from a different angle. Ultimately, it’s about broadening the picture of shared humanity and maybe helping us cut each other more slack,” to which drummer Russ adds, “it was our way of bottling the high energy and playfulness we encountered performing for audiences all across the country.”
