Rock’n’Roll celebrities will “Bowl For Ronnie” November 14 to benefit the Ronnie James Dio “Stand Up And Shout” cancer fund at the PINZ Bowling Center in Studio City California. Eddie Trunk—from Madison in Morris County—will host. He can be heard on SiriusXM’s 103 Faction Talk channel. Last year’s event (that’s Trunk with Ronnie’s widow and Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello) brought in over $80, 000. Musicians from Armored Saint, Fuel, Black Sabbath, Guns N’ Roses, Cinderella, Machine Head, Foo Fighters, Great White, Toto, Bon Jovi, Whitesnake and Fates Warning participated. This year’s competitive bowlers will be announced in the months to come.

The beloved Dio—of Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and the band that carried his name—died of gastric cancer 14 years ago at 67. The charity in his name has raised over two million dollars to benefit the research work of the TJ Martell Foundation and the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston where Ronnie was treated during the last six months of his life. The Fund has also committed to helping Dr. David Wong at UCLA who is developing a non-invasive saliva test for early detection.
