Get Ready For Heavy Metal Dog Collars

Metal fans of Descendents, Dropkick Murphys, Cannibal Corpse, Bad Religion, The Misfits and others can now buy their pup heavy metal collars (or you might want to get one for yourself). Rachel Rosen, who played in Caninus, a 2003 NYC grindcore band with two female vocalists and two pitbull terriers, Basil and Budgie, has opened Caninus Collars. The band had three albums, including a split 7” with Cattle Decapitation in 2005. Basil died in 2011. Budge died in 2016. The entrepreneurial Rosen also performed in Indecision and Most Precious Blood, as well as working in a Jersey City dog shelter for 12 years. As someone like myself who has fostered Beagles for years, having found nine forever homes (would’ve been 11 but we just couldn’t part with Elsie or Basie), I firmly believe Rosen is filling a void because, as she says, “while we bipedal headbangers have all of the merch options in the world, it is not often that we’re able to help our dogs and cats express their love for the heavier genres.”
