Legendary Rapper Darryl “DMC” McDaniels Joins Patriarchs In Black for ‘Veneration’
The new single from Paramus metal mainstays Patriarchs In Black, “Veneration,” will come out digitally August 25. Johnny Kelly (Type O Negative/Quiet Riot) and Dan Lorenzo (Hades/Non-Fiction) are joined on the track by rapper Darryl “DMC” McDaniels from historic hip-hop heroes Run DMC (pictured with Lorenzo), vocalist Mark Sunshine, violinist Emma Smoler and bassist Anthony Vitti.
“I met Darryl earlier this year when he and I were featured together on an original section of the 1984 cover tune “Jungle Love” (The Time) on a solo album by Tom Hunting of Exodus,” explains Lorenzo. “Darryl recorded a rap and I was asked to write a guitar riff under what Darryl already recorded. So I did. When we met again at the video shoot, he proved to be the nicest guy so I asked him if I could send him some of my music to see if he could add something. We are so honored he did!”
“I’m still the kid from Queens with rock’n’roll dreams,” says McDaniels. “Dreams do come true and I’m always blessed to collaborate with the best musicians. When I met Dan, we had so much fun on the Tom Hunting session that when he asked, I said, `hell yeah.’ Then he sent me the song and it just spoke to me. It’s definitive of my own journey. I have so much respect for these guys.”

Patriarchs In Black’s second album—My Veneration—is due this October on Germany’s MDD Records.
