Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown Announces New Concert Season
It opened in 1937 as The Community Theatre, part of the Walter Reade chain of New Jersey movie houses. It stayed that way for four decades. But by the 1980s, it was a rotting hulk of brick and mortar, a Morristown eyesore. It took until 1994, but the venue ultimately underwent a metamorphosis as a concert hall. By 2016, it was deemed an “Outstanding Historic Theatre” by The League of Historic American Theatres. Now, the venue, known as The Mayo Performing Arts Center, has announced the remainder of its 2023 concert season.
