Rascal Felix Cavaliere Readies His First Solo Album In 20 Years
Rock’n’Roll Hall of Famer and Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter-keyboardist Felix Cavaliere—who put together The Young Rascals in Garfield at The Choo Choo Club in 1965—is primed and ready to release his first solo album since Dreams In Motion in 1993. Then And Now (Atisha Records/Ingram Music Distribution) will be released September 15, a year after his Memoir Of A Rascal book. A loose concept album, it juxtaposes songs he grew up on like Ben E. King’s 1960 “Spanish Harlem,” Jackie Wilson’s 1967 “(Your Love Keeps Lifting Me) Higher And Higher,” Clarence Carter’s 1968 “Slip Away” and others with new songs from his own pen that retain the vitality and soul of the aforementioned.
“This album came about during the pandemic when I needed to really find a way to lift my spirits from not being on stage and touring,” he says. “The ‘Then’ songs are the songs that made me want to sing and play. The ‘now’ songs reflect those past influences.”
