Skid Row Bassist Rachel Bolan is the ‘Gargoyle Of The Garden State’

Thirty-Seven years after the self-titled debut of Ocean County metal band Skid Row in 1989, bassist Rachel Bolan will be declaring himself Gargoyle Of The Garden State when his solo debut is released June 12 by earMUSIC.  Nick Raskullnecz, who produced the last Skid Row album—2022’s The Gang’s All Here—will once again be at the helm.

Bolan has invited some friends along for the ride. Snake Sabo, Scotti Hill and Rob Hammersmith (Skid Row), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme), Danko Jones and Steve Conte (New York Dolls) and Damon Johnson (Lynyrd Skynyrd) play and Bolan sings.  Thus, it won’t sound like Skid Row. The first single/video is due in a few months.

Meanwhile, the search for a new singer continues (see Feb 10 lead) and the band hopes to be  back out on the road soon with the new guy. Bolan told www.blabbermouth.net “we have a couple of guys on our radar. We’ve auditioned a few people…there’s a lot of people who want [in]. So…us and management and our producer, we’re all going through each person saying, `like. ok, this person’s too young, or a little too green, or [even] who told them they could sing?” The band has been through unknowns and also some well-established front men so far. One well-established front man that will definitely not make the cut will be Sebastian Bach. They, reportedly, talked about it but are all in agreement that it just won’t happen.
