Why Sebastian Bach Isn’t In Skid Row Anymore
Skid Row, the Toms River hair-metal band that reached the pinnacle of success in the ‘80s, is doing just fine with singer Erik Gronwell. Their sixth album, The Gang’s All Here, in 2022, was their first in 16 years, and it’s selling. But the gang isn’t exactly all here, is it? Sebastian Bach is solo and released his “What Do I Have To Lose” single in December, his first in nine years. Meanwhile, Skid Row has been around the world and back. In fact, they’re still on tour and, reportedly, sounding better than ever.
But what led to the split?
According to Corey Irwin of www.ultimateclassicrock.com, in 1996, the band was floundering. Grunge was the flavor of the day. Bach jumped at the chance to open for KISS and said yes to the invite without telling the rest of the band. But Point Pleasant bassist-composer-producer Rachel Bolan had already began rehearsing with a punk band he started and the schedules conflicted. When Bach called Perth Amboy guitarist-composer Dave “Snake” Sabo to complain, he might have been a little too aggressive in his voice-mail, peppering it with F-bombs galore. Sabo didn’t take too kindly to that as his family also heard the rant.
They haven’t spoken since.
Bach told the “Wild Ride with Steve-O” podcast, “…if [you] ask…them, they’ll say there was a lot of shit leading up to that. But that was the very last straw.”
